Worked on NuGraph3, a hierarchical Graph Neural Network for reconstructing neutrino events in Liquid Argon Time Projection Chamber (LArTPC) detectors. The model processes sparse, high-dimensional detector hits and converts them into structured physics insights. My contributions centered on both architectural improvements and training optimization at scale:

  • Architectural Updates: Designed encoder MLP heads to initialize β (clustering confidence) and coordinate embeddings, allowing them to propagate through bottom-up, top-down, and intra-level message passing for richer, context aware clustering.
  • Training Optimization: Reduced epoch runtime from ~14 hours to ~2 hours (7× speedup) by enabling multi-worker asynchronous data loading, tuning batch scheduling, pruning redundant computations, and migrating to NVIDIA H100 GPUs.
  • Performance Analysis: Evaluated trade-offs in Adjusted Rand Index (ARI) and loss (potential/background) to quantify the impact of architecture changes on clustering quality.
  • High Performance Computing: Leveraged CUDA acceleration, mixed precision (FP16) training, and optimized I/O pipelines to handle 10TB+ of MicroBooNE simulation data efficiently.

Awards: 🏆 Lockheed Martin Best Capstone Project | 🏆 Best K-12 Award

Designed and Developed EDURA (Educational Dialogue for Understanding and Responsive Assessment), a Moodle LMS integrated AI chatbot that helps pre-service teachers practice active listening with simulated parent personas. The system replaces static quizzes by evaluating conversations against the LAFF framework and logging results directly into Moodle’s gradebook.

  • System Design & Engineering: Led development of a custom Moodle plugin (extending the GeniAI base) to deliver interactive chat based evaluations with multiple parent personas and emotional tones.
  • AI Integration: Integrated OpenAI GPT for dialogue, Whisper for transcription, and ElevenLabs for voice output, enabling realistic multilingual simulations.
  • Scalability & Performance: Designed the plugin with JSON-driven short memory, tuned prompts for fairness, and built an admin UI for persona updates without code changes. Optimized runtime cost to $0.001/session for nationwide scalability.
  • Automated Grading Pipeline: Implemented Regex based score extraction, structured feedback, PDF report generation, and seamless Moodle gradebook integration, cutting grading time to zero. Also added a foul-language detector to flag inappropriate inputs.
  • Quality & CI/CD: Set up YAML GitHub Actions for linting, tests, static analysis, and packaging to make code checks easy on every PR and ensure reliable releases.
  • Impact: Deployed across 5K+ pre-service teachers in 12+ institutions, transforming AAC evaluation into an engaging, affordable, and accessible simulation.
